It might be just a small button, but it makes a Big Impact!

The 2013 Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival committee and the 2013 Queen candidates will be in your neighborhood this Sunday, May 19th, selling buttons. By purchasing a Water Carnival button, you can make a visual statement of your support for this community event and help make the many activities during Water Carnival week possible.

Water Carnival Buttons are just $3 each and come with some great benefits!

Free admission to see the Queen and Princess crowned at the June 16^th Coronation at the Hutchinson High School
Permission to search for the Water Carnival Medallion during Water Carnival week. The prize for finding the medallion is $500!
Access to special Water Carnival Deals from area businesses during Water Carnival week! You can check out the deals at www.watercarnival.org.

If you do not get your button this weekend, you will be able to find them for sale at many area businesses (banks, grocery stores) or from any of the Water Carnival committee members.

Water Carnival Boat Parade Entries Sought!

The Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival Committee is looking for participants for this year’s boat parade, which will be held Thursday, June 13th at 7:00pm on the majestic Crow River. Anyone may enter and there is no fee to participate! ALL entries will be eligible to compete for a $300.00 first prize, $200.00 second prize, and $100.00 third prize that will be awarded to the best dressed boats.

Boats will leave from Roberts Park, progress down the river past Les Kouba Point to the dam, and return on the opposite side. All entries must provide their own boat and must have enough life preservers to accommodate its participants.

Several other fun-filled events will take place along the river that evening so plan to make a night of it! As is tradition, the canoe races will precede the boat parade with a start time of 6:15 p.m.

Junior Royalty Candidates Wanted for Water Carnival

The search is on for Junior Royalty candidates for the 2013 Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival. A girl and boy will be chosen as successors to the 2013 reigning royalty, Junior Queen Tylee Plombon, daughter of Dustin and Traci Plombon, and Junior Commodore Sam Starke, son of Randy and Melissa Starke

The 71^st annual celebration of the Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival runs June 10-16. The Junior Royalty competition is open to girls and boys who will be between the ages of 7 and 9 years old the week of the Water Carnival, and must reside in the Hutchinson School District. Children who have won or been finalists are ineligible to interview a second time.

A registration form is available at the Culver’s, Dairy Queen and www.watercarnival.org. A non-returnable photo taken within the last six months, preferably of the child alone, must accompany the registration form and needs to be returned by Saturday June 1^st, 2013.

Judging will take place Saturday, June 8th at the Christ the King Church, 1040 South Grade Rd, in Hutchinson. Royalty will be crowned at Library Square during ceremonies following the Kiddy Day Parade on Saturday, June 15^th, 2013. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

The new Junior Royalty will attend parades throughout the area during the upcoming year. They will ride the Jaycee Water Carnival float, along with the 2013 Hutchinson Queen and Princess, while representing Hutchinson.

Water Carnival Announces Motorcycle Run Details

The 3rd Annual Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival motorcycle run will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Same day event registration and lineup begins at 9:00 am at Buffalo Wild Wings and the group departs promptly at 10:00 am. The route will feature five stops – Hector, New Ulm, St. Peter, Arlington and Biscay – and will be approximately 160 miles round trip.

The group will return to Buffalo Wild Wings by 6:00 pm for door prizes and other drawings. Discounted online pre-registration begins Monday, April 22nd. For more information, or to pre- register, go here or contact Shanna Nemitz with any questions.

The Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival Committee is seeking design submissions for the Water Carnival button.

Designs may be created with up to three colors along with black and/or white. Designs must include the following information: 71st Annual Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival, June 10-16, 2013.

The size of the design is not restricted, but the design must be reproducible on a button approximately 2-inches in diameter.

A $75 cash prize will be awarded to the creator of the winning design, $50 for second place and $30 for third place.

The deadline to submit designs is Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. Send designs to:

Winning Button Designs for 70th Annual Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival

Winning button designs have been selected for the 70th Annual Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival. First place, a $75 prize, will be awarded to Jason Paulson for his creative and inspiring design. A $50 second place prize will go to Janet Duesterhoeft Anderson. The third place prize of $30 will go to Danny Masica. Watch for Paulson’s artwork during this year’s Water Carnival activities!
