1st Annual Water Carnival Walleye Tournament

Sunday, June 15, 2025 on the Crow River in Hutchinson

Cast a line in the Crow River and see what you catch!  You could be the winner of the Water Carnival Walleye Tournament.

Rules Meeting will begin at 6:15am at the Roberts Park Boat Launch, the tournament will begin at 7:00am and last until Noon.

TOURNAMENT RULES
General

  • Maximum of 3 fishers per boat
    • Fishers per boat need to comply with boat manufacturers recommendation
  • A non-fishing person is allowed in the boat but MUST NOT fish or net your fish
    • Fishers do not get an extra rod for this person
  • Fishing area is from orange buoys north of Glenn Street to Crow River mouth south of Dale’s auto. All other reachable water is at play. (Fishable water map will be provided)
    • No fishing upstream of the crow river mouth
  • No culling or high grading will be allowed per MN law
    • Once fish is placed in the livewell, it must be kept
  • Any fish mangled, mashed, or mauled will not be weighed per tournament advisory board’s discretion
  • Tie breakers
    • 1st tie: Winner decided by biggest fish
    • 2nd tie: Winner decided by coin flip
  • Cell phones will be used for official time
  • Late arrival to weigh in will result in following penalties:
    • 0-5 minutes late: loss of half of total weight
    • 5+ minutes late: disqualified
  • Have your boat off plane within ¼ mile of boat launch before the official time strikes 12PM or other pre-designated time
  • Any cheaters will be disqualified immediately and banned from future events
  • All MN laws set forth by the MN DNR must be followed
  • Pre fishing is allowed

Bag Limit

  • 5 walleyes are weighed per team (regardless of team size)
    • 8 walleyes per boat allowed in livewell (3 fish to play with)
  • Only 2 of the 8 walleyes kept can be 20” or over (per MN law)
  • Walleyes to be weighed will have a 15” minimum length
  • Only the initial 5 walleyes for weigh will be considered by weighmaster
    • You cannot go back to your (or someone else) livewell to replace the initial 5 presented for weigh in
  • Ineligible fish will not be weighed
    • Illegal fish will result in disqualification

Safety

  • Use best judgment for bad weather
  • Your safety is the #1 priority
  • Safe boating precautions must be used at all times
  • Motor kill switch must be attached to drive while on plane
  • Life jackets must be worn while on plane

Sportsmanship

  • Respect other competitors and non-participating fishermen’s space
  • No cutting off people from shore who are a casts distance from shore
  • Use proper right-of-way when driving and fishing
